Product
What is a generic?
Patents are held by drug manufacturers on brand-name drugs that they manufacture and sell. Pharmaceutical companies can make a generic copy of the brand-name drug and then sell it at significant discounts after the patent expires.
Generic medication is the same as brand-name counterparts in terms of dosage, safety and strength. The manufacturer must show that generic medications are safe and effective before they can be made available to the public. Generics can be slightly more expensive than their brand-name counterparts, and they may also look slightly different (e.g. Generics can look slightly different from brand-name medications due to trademark laws. Generics are cheaper because generic manufacturers don’t have to invest large sums to invent drugs.
Why do some drugs have different names?
These are registered trade names or brands by the manufacturer. Manufacturers will use different trade names in different countries. Although the active ingredients of medications are identical, they may appear different or have a different tradename. e.g. Adalat XL (Canada) and Adalat Oros (New Zealand).
Why do some products have a RxSelect badge?
Customers who purchase products with the RxSelect logo enjoy the greatest savings in our catalog. Many generic versions of medication are not available in Canada. You can also earn rewards from RxSelect products that you can use for future orders.
Are all drugs available?
No, our partner does not have all medications that are available in other parts of the world but with their network of global pharmacies, they have a huge selection of drugs available.
